Bringing the elements & principles of design together.

Meet La Ruchala Amyrrh Murphy

An artist, curator, and lifelong arts advocate. My journey in the arts began in childhood, painting on my bedroom walls and spending summers exploring the Smithsonian galleries. Over the years, I’ve balanced a career in nonprofit leadership with my passion for creating through Amyrrh Designs, where I express emotion and imagination through vibrant mixed media works using acrylics, fabric, paper, wire, and found objects. Lately, I’ve been channeling that creativity into collage and wearable pieces—bringing my love of color, texture, and storytelling into works that reflect who I am and what I believe art can be using non-traditional materials.

Moto
I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.
I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no “brief candle” for me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.
